License

A license is attached to a hardware and is necessary to use Exwayz’ software suite.

Types of licenses

In the following sections we will refer as machine to any system where Exwayz’ software suite can be installed, including an OS installed on a physical machine, running within a VM or even on a Docker container.

Node-locked

<aside> 📔 Description This is the more old-fashioned way of setting up a license: it is associated to a machine and can be used seamlessly once activated.

Floating

<aside> 📔 Description - We agree on a number of seats n that suits your needs.

• You can use on software on up to n different machines at any time.
• When you are done using the software on a machine, you can switch to another one without any further action required!

<aside> ⚙️ Requirements The machine need to have an Internet connection when running the software.

🚀 Installation

All license operations are performed using the exwayz_license executable.

The generic use case requires an Internet connection from the device. In the event that this is not an option, one may still install a license via the offline activation process.

📖 Activation process

The online activation process is quite straightforward:

1. We provide you with a token, which is a unique identifier of your license.
2. You query a license from the target computer: a license is distributed and installed.
